During a recent plumbing service visit in Land O’ Lakes, FL, we addressed a critical water-control issue that was preventing proper leak detection and safe isolation of fixtures. The home’s main shut-off and a toilet supply valve were both failing to close, which can lead to ongoing leakage, higher water usage, and potential water damage.
The first priority was restoring dependable control at the point where the main water supply enters the house. We removed the damaged 1-inch CPVC shut-off valve and installed a new 1" CPVC ball valve using proper CPVC fittings and best practices to ensure a tight, leak-free seal. With a functioning main valve, we could safely proceed with step-by-step troubleshooting.
Next, we replaced the broken master bathroom toilet shut-off valve so the fixture could be isolated correctly. A worn or seized valve that won’t turn off can complicate any repair and makes accurate testing difficult. With the new valve in place, the toilet supply line was secured and operation was restored for reliable on/off control.
After the valve replacements were completed, we verified proper system performance with a controlled leak test, checking pressure stability, shut-off operation, and dry connections. With reliable isolation restored, the plumbing system was ready for accurate diagnostics and continued use.
